I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here is a British survival reality television series hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Since its launch, filmed in Australia in 2002, the show, which has over nine million viewers each series, has also been hit by thousands of Ofcom complaints and has upset many animal rights groups.

The series was hit by 89 Ofcom complaints for the first episode of this year, 59 of which were due to Arlene Phillips’ inappropriate reference to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

In the 15th series of the show, an episode that showed Ferne McCann eating a live water spider received 696 Ofcom complaints.

For the last two years, the series has been moved from Australia to Abergele, Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic. During the first series in Wales, the RSPCA contacted ITV about their mistreatment of animals and for bringing non-native insects into Wales.

This year, animal rights groups and UK vets have continued to share their anger towards the show via Ofcom and on social media.
